Some really great photos, words and video of the Refused reunion over at the Hundreds. Band’s official reconnection statement on their site. Wish I was at this show at the Glass House in Pomona, California – energy levels look off the charts. Refused was supposed to be the answer to everything. Their third album The [...]

Whistling, guitar plucking and cold wave from Belgium c. 1981. Reminds me of Serge Gainsbourg and also Sonic Youth in a somewhat abstract way. Would love to walk around in Paris listening to this. Believe this would be a great track for some cinematic applications.

Sad but true, the Bay Area record label famous for bands like Operation Ivy, Rancid and Green Day is shutting its doors. There’s a nice radio interview with the founders Chris Appelgren and Larry Livermore on KQED’s morning show with Michael Krasny. I got such a kick out of Krasny talking about punk rock because [...]

Sounds too good to be true, but it is. Fugazi has recorded almost all their live shows since the band’s inception on cassette, DAT, hard drive and CD-R, and now Dischord Records is releasing the 800 shows, starting with 130 shows December 1st. The shows cost anywhere from $1-$100, depending on how generous you feel. [...]

Tight video on McRad’s skate rock roots. The movie delves into the early history of Public Domain and Thrasher magazine. I’ll always remember their song “Weakness” from Public Domain which still stands up to this day with its punchy riff and chorus. I clearly remember recording the song from a friend’s VHS tape onto casette [...]

Another classic. Gary Oldman was unbelievable in this film.

True classic. This video is sooooo drama complete with dracula voice. Love vampire chick Patricia Morrison and her blown out hair and dig deep nails.

Any tri-staters out there, go fund this movie now on Kickstarter. Seriously. It’s going to be great. They’ve included a raffle for the last 5 days (which is now 38 hours) to win a punk card skate deck, which is pretty sick looking.

Things are getting heated between Philadelphia’s Power 99 radio personality Tazz Daddy and Kreayshawn over the usage of the n word. Apparently Tazz Daddy called out Kreayshawn out for using the n word because she’s a white girl. So entertaining to see the cat claws come out between Fat Albert and this cute little lady. [...]

90s video directing was so grunge, but this song and BAND still rock. You have to watch this one directly on YouTube for some reason.

Loving this song. It’s like weird science meets synth punk. This song is great around the 2:25 mark and crashes that sound like they are from The Cure. From San Francisco on 415 records, c. 1980. Hard to believe this is from 1980, it sounds really modern.

Recently looked up the name “Ken Salerno” on google from a photo caption I saw in the City Gardens post we did earlier this week. This was a amazing find. Ken has documented the skate / punk / hardcore scene for many, many years and has some really incredible photography from the tri-state scene and [...]

My friend Andrew from LA alerted me to this link about the infamous City Gardens. For those that don’t know, City Gardens was a seminal punk rock club in the tri-state area that was open from the 80s to late 90s. Violent, fun, and super hectic place to see shows all throughout all high school. [...]
