Some really great photos, words and video of the Refused reunion over at the Hundreds. Band’s official reconnection statement on their site. Wish I was at this show at the Glass House in Pomona, California – energy levels look off the charts. Refused was supposed to be the answer to everything. Their third album The [...]
Cool set of documentaries about singer / songwriter / artist / street performer Wesley Willis (R.I.P. 2003) from Chicago. Thanks Drew. Vampire bat! A portrait of the self proclaimed rock ‘n’ roll star and “Chicago City Artist.”
Despite impossible odds, Chicago native, Wesley Willis became an underground rock icon, revered artist and hero to many before [...]
Can’t have a part two without a part one.
Weekend reminiscing on this classic Mobb Deep track. Getting closer to god in a tight situation, take these words and think it through…
Love this track. Classic DJ Premier production.

Whistling, guitar plucking and cold wave from Belgium c. 1981. Reminds me of Serge Gainsbourg and also Sonic Youth in a somewhat abstract way. Would love to walk around in Paris listening to this. Believe this would be a great track for some cinematic applications.

Sad but true, the Bay Area record label famous for bands like Operation Ivy, Rancid and Green Day is shutting its doors. There’s a nice radio interview with the founders Chris Appelgren and Larry Livermore on KQED’s morning show with Michael Krasny. I got such a kick out of Krasny talking about punk rock because [...]

Cold wave meets Italo. Can’t get enough of this track. Love, love the lyrics, “…everyone is looking for a new direction, some people you know are running the nation…” From Casionova’s Dance Around the Galaxi Mix. Get it on Soundcloud , bangin’.

This track is a classic stormer. I remember hearing this on a Kemistry and Storm mixtape from Dreamscape 19. Never knew what it was until today when I Googled Dreamscape 19 and stumbled on the track listing. Drum and bass was amazing at this time, and this still stands the test of time. Tangos’ remix [...]

This song and video rock so hard. Gives me the chilly chills. From their Raven in the Grave album which I think may be one of their best to date, aside from Pretty in Black. Directed by Todd Hideo and edited by Jon Felix, DP by Mark Rutherford. Seeing this song live is the bomb. [...]

Bay Area’s rapper Lil’ B in a three part documentary exploring his use of social media as a promotional tool and his honest philosophies on approaching life. He seems like a pretty likable guy and a down to Earth character. Apparently he really likes the wharf.

Sounds too good to be true, but it is. Fugazi has recorded almost all their live shows since the band’s inception on cassette, DAT, hard drive and CD-R, and now Dischord Records is releasing the 800 shows, starting with 130 shows December 1st. The shows cost anywhere from $1-$100, depending on how generous you feel. [...]

This weekend, I watched this documentary on Netflix about Burzum, black metal, the church burnings and murders in Norway. I thought the movie rambled and had a certain indirectness to the story telling. It’s worth checking out if you like this black metal stuff, and I think it would appeal to folks who already knew [...]
