This is awesome. A group of guys (Doug Wilson, Brandon Goodwin and Jess Heugel) made a documentary about the photo lettering machine used in the 50s-70s, to be outdated by the advent of desktop publishing and computers. Site here. Premieres in SF Tuesday, February 21, 2012 – 7:00 PM @ Typekit San Francisco: 2601 Mission [...]

Wow… Saw this on our realtor’s blog. Totally amazing footage of San Francisco with vibrant colors. A breathtaking 21 minutes of pure visual pleasure that harkens back to Hitchcock. So surprised this video only has 5,500 views…

Randomly saw this video on Liveleak of MIT’s High-Low tech group’s project on a “kit for sketching electronics”, in which a designer is able to stick some crazy looking electronic components to a piece of paper and then draw with a pen to create a circuit. It’s really interesting at the end where an interface [...]

On our Christmas vacation we were very stoked to make it down to Niland, California to visit this colorful mountain installation called “Salvation Mountain” I previously blogged about back in August. It was about an hour and a half drive from Palm Springs, and a little difficult to find (we asked the locals), but it [...]

Ossian Brown, member from the awesome electronic group Coil, compiled this book of strange and creepy Halloween costumes from his personal collection of found photos. The intro is written by David Lynch. Get it on Amazon. Some of the costumes look like they recycled some old KKK garb they had lying around the house, lol…

Just got a nice note from Sally Dige, a Danish Canadian designer and artist. She recently filmed, edited and recorded this video for her catchy synth-wave track “Immaculate Conception.” The video has a nice retro 80s feeling and vibe, and it’s a catchy tune. Kudos to doing this all work by yourself girl! Hope to [...]

Already the app store’s #1 best seller, and it’s 99 well worth it cents for a limited time. This synth is so sick; gorgeous touch interface, animation and the warm analog sounds Moog is known for. Video here. Animoog, powered by Moog’s new Anisotropic Synth Engine (ASE), is the first professional polyphonic synthesizer designed for [...]

Fascinating article in this month’s Wired about UVB-76, an enigmatic Soviet antenna that has been broadcasting sequences of coded numbers (AKA a “numbers station”) to secret agents and the military for the past 20 years. The mysterious phenomenon of numbers stations have been a cult obsession with shortwave radio enthusiasts for the past twenty to [...]

This video is awesome, and so is the sound. Stoked it’s not from Brooklyn. Available on Mannequin records or eMusic. Mannequin is so happy to release under its wings one of the best talents in the minimal synth new scene that you better don’t miss. We are talking about the serbian duo Sixth June – [...]

It’s San Francisco, but made out of 100,000 toothpicks by artist Scott Weaver, and ping pong balls can actually roll through the sculpture. Would like to see this. I don’t know how people have the attention span to make something this amazing. Check the video to see the ping pong ball tour. Mor info here. [...]
